JSC, LSC Split

Lyndon State and Johnson State renewed their rivalry Friday, playing to a split of a doubleheader held at Skip Pound Field. The Lady Hornets won the opener by a score of 4-2 and the Lady Badgers returned the favor in the nightcap by recording an 11-8 victory.
In Game 1, Sara Fetterhoff went seven strong innings to pick up the win for LSC. She allowed only one earned run on three hits while striking out one and walking three. Michelle Wilcox led Lyndon with two hits in the contest and Sarah Tucker's two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the deciding blow.
Morgan Rogerson, Lauren Wallace and Ashley Allegrini had one hit each for Johnson State while Allie Cunningham took the loss. She allowed three earned runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
In Game 2, Wallace went 2-for-4 with two home runs, including a two-run shot in the seventh that landed in the LSC Baseball Field, to lead the Lady Badgers to victory and a split of the twin bill.
Brittany Lumsden and Heidi Bellmore added two hits each for the winners and Julie Gervais was credited with the win. She went five innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while fanning two and walking four. Carol Ann Jackson pitched the seventh and received credit for a save.
Jenna Kennett and Theresa Danforth had two hits for the Lady Hornets and Danforth was credited with the loss. After relieving Fetterhoff in the fourth, she allowed five earned runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking one.
Lyndon State (3-11, 2-3) returns to the diamond Saturday when it entertains Thomas College in another North Atlantic Conference doubleheader. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. Johnson State, meanwhile, will host the University of Maine at Farmington Saturday in an NAC matchup which gets underway at 2 p.m.
