JSC Snaps Losing Streak

LEICESTER, Mass. (April 27, 2008)

 

Johnson State College softball snapped their 47-game winning streak on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Becker College.  The win was the first for the Badgers since April 26, 2006 when they swept Green Mountain College at home.  The Badgers would lose in the second game 15-7.

 

GAME 1:  JSC 2, Becker 1

 

Miranda Robtoy (So., Barre, Vt./Spaulding) laced an RBI double and Ashley Allegrini (Fr., Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) followed with an RBI single driving in Robtoy in the fourth inning to supply the offense for JSC in the 2-1 victory.

 

Julie Gervais (So., Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) pitched seven strong innings allowing nine hits and one earned run while walking three and striking out four for the win.

 

GAME 2:  Becker 15, JSC 7

 

A Gervais two-run home run gave the Badgers a 7-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning but the Hawks would rally for six runs in the bottom half of the inning and four more in the fifth inning to push Becker the 15-7 win.

 

Robtoy went 2-for-2 on the day with two runs and two RBI to help lead the JSC offense.  Allegrini also drove in a pair of runs on the day with a pair of singles.
