LSC Blanks Johnson

The Lyndon State College men's tennis team saw its winning streak reach four matches Tuesday with a 9-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Johnson State College at LSC’s Bell Tennis Center. 

 

In singles action, Lyndon's Brad Darby picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Badger’s Ben Algar (Old Lyme, Conn.) in the No.1 matchup before Peter Dutile defeated Alen Turan (Essex, Vt.) 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. Ryan Maroney and Jeremiah Powell both earned wins for LSC in the No. 3 and No. 4 matches with victories over Kyle Young (Randolph, Vt.) (6-4, 6-3) and Peter LeBlanc (Worcester, Mass.) (6-0, 6-3), respectively. 

 

The Hornets' Paul Thibault won his No. 5 tennis match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Jon Willson (East Middlebury, Vt.) and in the No. 6 singles match of the day, LSC's Jimmy Gaskell won a hard-fought 6-3, 1-6, 11-9 decision over John Sabau (Rochester, Vt.)

 

In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Dutile and Darby beat Algar and Turan 8-2, while Powell and Thibault took the No.2 doubles matchup by a score of 8-1 over Young and LeBlanc. In No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Gaskell and Maroney topped Willson and Sabau 8-3.
