Writer, Joy, Bolger/Turan Receive NAC Honors

JOHNSON, Vt. - Johnson State men's tennis has received numerous all-league awards from the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) for the spring of 2010.

 

NAC Co-Coach of the Year:  Dean Writer

Fourth year Johnson State Head Coach Dean Writer has been voted NAC Co-Coach of the Year.  Writer led Johnson State to a 4-7 overall record and 4-4 in the NAC.  The Badgers fell to Lyndon State in the NAC Semifinals.  This the second time Writer has been named Coach of the Year in the NAC, the first occuring in 2007.

 

 

 

 

NAC 1st Team Singles:  Ryan Joy

Sophomore Ryan Joy (North Montpelier, Vt./U-32) has been voted to the NAC 1st Team Singles by the leagues coaches.  Joy went 7-3 in singles play, all at the #1 flight.  Joy was also named NAC Player of the Week once this year when he defeated both the #1 player from Lyndon State, Teddy Fournier, who was eventually named Player of the Year, and the #1 player for NAC champs Castleton State Sam Levine.

 

 

 

NAC 1st Team Doubles:  Steven Bolger/Alen Turan

The team of freshman Steven Bolger (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) and sophomore Alen Turan (Bosnia/Essex, Vt.), who went 4-1 as a tandem this season, has been voted to the NAC Doubles 1st Team.  The duo helped the Badgers win two of their final five matches once the became a team at the #2 doubles flight.
