JSC Cruises Past Mitchell 16-1

The Johnson State College Badgers played host to Mitchell College in this afternoon’s men’s lacrosse contest and cruised past the visiting Pequots 16-1 to move to 5-4 overall on the season.
Johnson State took control of the game in the first half, amassing a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter and a 10-1 lead at the half.
Johnson State picked up 51 ground balls to Mitchell’s 14 and outshot them 49 to 15 throughout the game. Mitchell midfielder Jeff Dineen scored the first goal of the contest early in the first quarter.
After being down initially, Johnson midfielders Steve Noyes (So., Barre, Vt./Spaulding) and Kegan Pettit (Sr., South Freeport, Maine/Freeport) each recorded a game-high three goals scored, while Matt Martin (Sr., Vergennes, Vt./Middlebury), Erik Tillberg (So., Randolph, Vt./Randolph), Matt Riani (Jr., Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union), and Billy Noyes (So., Boston, Mass./Northeast Metro Tech) each netted two of their own.
Mitchell goalie Shane Gray had a game high 11 saves, while Johnson’s Evan Pestone (Sr., Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) recorded 4 of his own and added an assist late in the 4th quarter.
Johnson State will travel to Lyndon State on Monday at 4:00 pm in their next contest.
