Badgers Best Hornets On Senior Day

Seniors Lance McGrath (1), Evan Pestone (12), Kegan Pettit (16), and Matt Martin (20) were victorious on their Senior Day downing Lyndon State 20-4

 

JOHNSON, Vt. (April 30, 2008) - Johnson State College men’s lacrosse completed their 2008 schedule with a 20-4 triumph over Lyndon State College on Wednesday and finish the season with an 8-4 overall record.  The loss dropped Hornets to 1-11 overall.

 

The Badgers raced to a 7-0 lead after the first period Billy Noyes (So., Boston, Mass./Northeast Metro Tech) and Matt Martin (Sr., Vergennes, Vt./Middlebury) each tallied two goals.

 

JSC would get goals from eight different players on the day with Noyes leading with way with five on the afternoon to go along with two assists.  Martin and Matt Riani (Jr., Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union) each recorded four goals and three assists on the day.  Kegan Pettit (Sr., South Freeport, Maine/Freeport) scored two goals and added two assists and Steve Noyes (So., Barre, Vt./Spaulding) also had two goals.  Nate Willard (So., Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union), Mike Murphy (So., Woodstock, Vt./Woodstock), and Erik Tillberg (So., Randolph, Vt./Randolph) each had a goal apiece.

 

Chris Mansour (So., Mansfield, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Hornet offense while Craig Salvagno (Jr., Trumbull, Conn.) and Kali Stoddard-Amari (Jr., Lyndonville, Vt.) had a goal each.

 

Evan Pestone (Sr., Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset), five saves, and Pettit, nine saves, each spent time in goal to help the Badgers to the win while Matt Adams (So., Duxbury, Mass.) made 10 saves across the field for Lyndon.

 

The game marked the last collegiate contest for a quartet of Badger seniors in Martin, Pestone, Pettit, and Lance McGrath (Sr., St. George, Vt./Champlain Valley Union), who had an assist for his first career point.
