Johnson State Bested By MMA

Maine Maritime improved to 9-11 on the season beating Johnson State College 81-65. MMA held a 43-31 half time lead and managed to hold that margin en route to the 16-point victory. MMA out-rebounded the Badgers 39-30 and forced 22 turnovers on the afternoon.

 

Johnson State guard Charlie Viana (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) scored 21 points in the loss while Leandro Martinez (Philadelphia, Penn./Holy Ghost) and Bobby Shedd (Johnson, Vt./Lamoille Union) had 14 and 10 points respectively. Miles Smith Jr. (Philadelphia, Penn./Mercer County CC) played well in the loss scoring five points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.

 

Chad Paddock (Dayton, Ohio) led the way for the Mariners scoring 24 points, connecting on 12 of his 13 shots from the floor.  Adam Haskell (Winslow, Maine) continued his strong play contributing 18 points and 13 rebounds.   Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, Maine) added 13 points and four assists in the win.

 

Johnson State falls to 9-13 (4-6 NAC) on the season while the Mariners improve to 9-11 (6-4 NAC) on the year.  Johnson State will host a pair of home games on Friday at 8 pm and Saturday at 4 pm with Becker College and Elms College in town.  MMA will be back in action when they travel to Lesley University on Saturday the 16th for a 7:30pm tip-off.
