Husson Speeds Past JSC

Husson College used an up-tempo, balanced offensive to speed past Johnson State on Friday night 101-86 in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.
Johnson State (9-12, 4-5 NAC) trailed by only a basket at the half and took a 49-48 lead on the first possession on the second stanza when Charlie Viana (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) connected a three-pointer from the top of the key.
Husson (13-8, 7-2 NAC) would regain the lead and push to 11 points but Chris Lamica (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) three-point play would cut it to eight points with 6:07 to play.
The Eagles would close the game on an 18-11 run over that final 6:07 span getting contributions from all over their roster.
Viana would finish with a game-high 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting and add seven rebounds to lead Johnson State. John Foley (Valley Stream, N.Y./Holy Cross) scored 17 points, Chris Lamica (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) tallied 15 points, and Bobby Shedd (Johnson, Vt./Lamoille Union) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The sophomore duo of Brock Bradford and Matt McKenzie each scored 18 points to pace Husson. Scott Kissinger netted 15 points, Fabian Figueroa came off the bench to can all five of his field goal attempts en route to 13 points, Sheraud Lee scored 12 points, and Blaine Meehan chipped in with 11 points.
Johnson State heads to the coast to play Maine Maritime on Saturday at 4 pm while Husson hosts Castleton, also on Saturday at 4 pm.
