2008 JSC Basketball Alumni Day

Johnson, Vt. (February 2, 2008)

Even with very poor travel conditions, 25 former Johnson State basketball players and coaches were present on Saturday for the 2008 JSC Basketball Alumni Day.

Nine women suited up to play in a game that featured four eight minute running quarters. The hot shooting of Nicole Gokey and the inside game of Christiane Brown carried the green team over the white team. The inside-out combo of Terri Lavalette and Amanda Burby kept the score close but the green team prevailed.  Brown's all-around game would have earned strong consideration for a game MVP honor.

The men's game featured some outstanding passing and ball movement.  Greg Jankowski and Joe Dooley were lights out from the arc.  Dana Brewster canned a three to extend his streak of alumni games with at least one, Tom Boardman and George Coutrayer remained in street clothes and motivated from their respective benches and the big man duo of Bill Smith and Bob Thomas led their blue squad to the victory.  The game's MVP would have to have gone to Shane Levine with a pair of dunks and what must have been a 20-25 point outing for the blue team.  Jesse Coutrayer knocked down six-three pointers to keep the white team close.

The energy in the gym remained throughout the day as the Badgers varsity teams swept their contests vs. Wheelock.  The women won 54-41 while the men received a huge bench effort to win 74-64, their fifth win in their last six games.
