Student-Athletes in the Community

Community service has evolved into one of the cornerstones of Johnson State College Athletics. JSC student-athletes and the Athletics Department have earned statewide recognition for their efforts in giving back to the community. Student-Athletes as Role Models was implemented in 1997 to integrate Johnson State student-athletes within our own community.

Programs that Student-Athletes as Role Models now sponsor include Readers As Role Models (in cooperation with Johnson Elementary), Take a Kid To The Game promotions, the SAAC Holiday Food Drive, youth basketball, soccer and cross country clinics and Girls In Sport Day. In addition, many of our student-athletes participate with other community service projects sponsored by the JSC Center for Service Learning.

It is our ultimate objective to present our student-athletes with community service experiences that will have a profound effect on them. We hope that through these experiences our student athletes will continue to give back to their communities well after graduation from Johnson State College.
