Class of 2000

JULIANN ASHTON, '00, has opened Immrama Massage Therapy at Family First Chiropractic in Cambridge Village, Vermont.  She practices deep tissue therapy, Swedish massage and Reiki. Juliann is a graduate from Touchstone Healing Arts School of Massage in South Burlington.

STACY BELANGER, '00, was promoted to the position of branch manager of Union Bank's Fairfax office in May of 2006.  Previously, she had served as assistant branch manager in Stowe and as a residential lender in the Morrisville offices. 

LEAH BENEDICT, '00, is a permanent member of the Ammonoosuc Gallery in Littleton, and has some of her oil paintings for sale and on display there.

JASON CLARK, '00, was married to Sarah Leach on June 3, 2006.  Jason is employed by Just Delicious Catering and Applecheek Farm.  The Couple resides in Hyde Park.

RYAN EMMONS, '00, married Megan Callan on June 22, 2005 at St. Andrew's Church in Waterbury. The couple honey-mooned in Ireland. Megan works as a registered nurse in Burlington and Ryan works for Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Waterbury. They live in Williston.

SUSANNAH KELLY, MA'00, married Brendon Davis on August 28, 2005. The wedding was held at the National Historic Round Church in Richmond, Vermont. The reception was held at Sterling Falls Manor in Stowe. The couple took a wedding trip to Cape Cod. Susannah works as a guidance counselor at Hazen Union School and her husband is employed by Banknorth in Waitsfield.Susannah is in graduate school and is expecting their first child. They live in Montpelier.

DANIELLE MARCO, '00, has been living in Korea and teaching English. She says living there is interesting. "It is a Confucian society, which in many ways has made me realize how great I have it to live in America. KATHLEEN MCBETH, '00, recently passed her licensure for psychology.

CHRIS MURPHY, '00, is in the Army National Guard and recently participated in the America Supports You campaign's "Operation Hardwood-Hoops with the Troops" basketball tournament in Kuwait. Eight 13-member basketball teams from camps throughout Kuwait participated. The Tournament is an initiative to boost morale among troops, as well as show support to the nation's armed forces and thank the Kuwaiti people for their support. Chris is a radiology specialist.

MIKE AND JULIE (HULBURD) PALAGONIA, '00, are the pround parents of a second son,  Benjamin Michael Palagonia, born July 2006, and weighing in at 8 lbs. 1 1/2 oz., 21 inches long. Congratulations to Mike and Julie! Benjamin joins brother Christopher. Mike is director of public safety here at JSC; Mike and Jule bought a house in Milton in July 2005.

SUZANNE (HOWARD) SPITZSCHUH, '00, is graduating from UCONN with a bachelor's degree in general studies.

CHESLEY STONE, '00, now has three grandchildren, two girls and one boy. She is still teaching at North Country Union High School.

WILLIAM VECCHIOLLA, '00, has changed careers.  He is currently working for a Federal withholding facility as a case manager.

Class of 2001

ABIGAIL (SWARTZ) BERGEN, '01, AND DANIEL BERGEN, '99, were married in the Spring of 2006. Abigail is teaching Special Education in Massachusetts at an out-of-district placement and has earned her master's degree in special education. Abigail and Daniel live in New Hampshire.

JULIE BOUDREAU,'01, continues to work at Hardwick Elementary School.  She tell us that she will spend a few weeks with her children in Colorado during summer, although she can't wait to return to her colleagues at Hardwick Elementary to continue the joy of educating children in a supportive community.

RAYMOND BRIOR, '01, received his M.S.I.S. (Master of Science in Information Science) from SUNY Albany in December 2005. He and wife ELIZABETH (BOWEN) BRIOR '02 are living in Essex Jct., and Ray is working as an IBM operator and in retail book sales.

PAUL COOK, '01, after seven years as a grad student, Political Science instructor and academic advisor at UConn, and two years as an adjunct professor of Political Science at Eastern Connecticut, Paul happily returned to Vermont in May 2005 to work as an academic advisor at UVM's School of Business Administration.  He would love to hear from any of his professors or classmates.

SUSAN CROSBY, '01, is now teaching Special Education at Hyde Park Elementary School. She tells us her cousin David Meany '69 visits her often when he comes to Johnson to sing with the Johnson Men's Ensemble.

ELIZABETH DAVIDSON, '01, is currently earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She plans to open an office in Montgomery Center, in early 2007.

JENNIFER FOGG, '01,   is currently employed at Fisher Scientific International, Inc. as a Resource Librarian.  In her spare time she is working on an autobiographical novel and some poetry.        

KATEY (LAMBERT) FONTAINE, '01, married Joseph Fontaine and settled in Dunnellon, Florida. In Oct. 2004 they had their first child, Adam Lewis Fontaine. Katey is employed as the Vice President of Epoxy Systems Inc. and Joe, former JSC Security, is employed by Marion County Fire Rescue Dispatch and Lake Tropicana Station 25.

CARRIE (COLE) GARROW, '01, got married to Mark Garrow in June of 2003. On September 2004 thier son Colby James Garrow was born.

AARON GORDON, '01, tells us he will be leaving for Afghanistan in March 2006. He works as an army combat engineer, training non-commissioned officers.

JENNIFER HAGEN, '01,  moved to San Francisco four years ago.  She has worked for several different art galleries in the Bay area and is pursuing a career in painting, performance art and fire performing with the circus troop, Zeno.  She is actively singing in a band.  She is moving to Costa Rica in the Fall to open an art gallery with partner Doug Rhodes. 

MICHAEL LASCELLES, '01,  was married in 2002, and is currently expecting the first child (due in October).

NANCY (PERELLIE) LITTLE, '01, married her husband Andrew in 2000. They have two children, three year old Lilyana and six month old Jonah.

ANGELA (LOCKE) MCALLISTER, '01, and Benjamin McAllister had a baby girl on Sept. 23, and her name is Emma. The couple is building a new house in Albany.  Angela has been appointed as a third grade teacher at Sacred Heart School.  She was with the State Education Department as a behavioral intervention specialist, working with children with autism.

MARY JANE MASON (JONES), '01, was married to Sam Mason on June 10th at the Irasburg Town Hall.  Following a wedding trip to Virginia Beach and the surrounding area, the couple resides in Lowell.

SCOTT PAULSON, '01,  Scott is the founder and artist/director of The Vermont Independent School of the Arts in Sharon, Vermont.  Besides teaching, Scott can be seen all around Vermont with the various Caribbean Steel Bands and the Pipe Corps of the Catamount Pipe Band. 

DANIEL SHAMBLIN, '01, recently graduated from the Peace Corps; he worked in Tonga in the South Pacific, and is currently working in a vineyard in New Zealand. Dan plans to spend the next two years traveling the world.

APRIL SIMPSON,'01,   received certification in teaching Oxford Punch Needle Rug Hooking.  She has taught rug hooking at the Fletcher Farm School and is a member of the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild.  She has exhibits at the 2006 Shelburne Museum Rug Show.  She is presently enrolled in JSC Graduate Program for Art Education licensure with plans to graduate in the Spring of 2007. 

OLIVIA SMITH, '01, and Earl Smith  had a baby boy in early 2006. The baby's name is Kenyon Vernon Smith. He weighed in at 8lbs 8oz. 

KIM STINSON, '01, is still living in a remote cabin in Alaska.  She is currently working for the Forest Service as a Naturalist and a Wildland Fire-Fighter!  She spends her free time skiing whenever possible.  She says "Jerry Anderson and Tania Bacchus were life changing/shaping mentors whom I will always admire!"

Class of 2002

STEPHEN CHAREST, '02, is engaged to Andrea Miller, with a wedding planned for August 12, 2006. Stephen and Andrea work at Petra Cliffs Climbing Center and Mountaineering School in Burlington, Stephen is a program director and Andrea is an associate manager.

WENDELL HUGHES, '02, recently welcomed his child into the world and is planning to get married.

CHRISTOPHER INGRAM, '02, says he is finally using his degree! Chris is working for a solar power company called Heliopower in California.

ERIN KNOLL, '02, is working as a full-time math and science teacher. She is also enrolled in a master's of physical science program at West Chester University, in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

SHEILA METCALF, '02, recently left JSC after working as an admissions counselor. She moved on to pursue a full-time career in music.  

RYAN O'CONNELL, '02, was recently honored with the Milton M. Gray Jr. Award.  The award, named for one of two founding members of the firm Ryan works for, is presented annually to the employee whose contributions have furthest advanced the agency's mission, goals, and objectives.  It is considered the most prestigious awards that Rogers and Gray Insurance Agency presents.

KRISTEN PELLETIER, '02, is a third year law student at the University at Buffalo Law School. She is on the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review and will graduate from law school in May of 2006.

JIM REMSEN, '02, has recently been hired by NRG Systems, Inc. working in inventory control. He previously held the position of shipping cell leader at Huber & Suhner Inc.

Class of 2003

ALEXANDRIA BAEZ, '03,   is presently attending Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island.  Alex is a candidate for Juris Doctor, May 2008;  a recipient of the Ralph R. Papitto Scholarship, an Honors Program Invitee, and a member of  The Roger Williams University Law Review.

DAVID BELL, '03, is presently retired and working part time as a YMCA Lifeguard. Previously he worked as a Wilderness Information Specialist for Olympic National Park, Washington. Since graduation, David has continued informal studies in Buddhism and related subjects in spirituality and how they affect modern mankind. He is presently serving on the Cinnamon Lake Board of Directors as an elected official and was chosen as the treasurer. David says, "I found studying for my BS with the students and staff/advisors at JSC some of the best experiences in my life. The campus is both convenient and conducive to a mind that wants to improve and grow. I would like to return to JSC when I can financially afford to. I am on a fixed income and would need assistance with the fees."

JENNA SHORTLE, '03, married Brendan Chamberlain on June 15, 2005 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, in Rutland. A reception was held at South Station in Rutland and the couple honeymooned in Aruba. Jenna is a special educator at Rutland Intermediate School and Brendan works as a loan officer for CitiFinancial in Rutland.

TAHIR CHAUDHRI, '03 has taken a job teaching English as a Second Language in South Korea after spending the past few years catapulting from one corporate/service job to another.

COLLEEN DECKER, '03 received her master's in mental health counseling this spring.

MICHAEL DORAN and SARAH SNOW, '03, plan to be married in the summer of 2006. Sarah is employed by Green Mountain Peer Projects, a non-profit organization that helps teens make healthy choices and become leaders. Michael works for Environmental Compliance Services.

KATHRYN KENT '03 will be graduating from Vermont Law School in the spring of 2006.

MARION PIPER, '03, was married on June 3, 2006 to Richard Paquette.  Marion holds a BA from JSC and works as a site office manager for the Community College of Vermont.  The groom works at Standard Register.  The couple resides in Middlebury.

JESSE SCHLOFF, '03, has photographic work displayed at the Vermont Ski Museum.  The photographs are part of an exhibit entitled "Facing Off:  Portraits of Vermont's On-Snow Competitors."   The museum mounts an exhibit like this annually, but this year's theme followed the 2005 Olympians.  Eight Vermonters participated in the games.  The Museum requested portraits from professional and amateur photographers.  Jesse became the alpine race reporter with the Stowe Reporter.  He has a website, racestockphotograpy.com, which brings pictures of ski racers around Vermont to those athletes and their family and friends.   

ANISSA SEGUIN '03 is a new student support services worker at Bellows Free Academy. Before working at BFA she was a teacher at Missisquoi Valley Union High School.

Class of 2004

COLETTE HARTIGAN, '04, is engaged to be married to Scott Elzey. Colette works as a Title One teacher at Rollinsford Grade School in Rollinsford New Hampshire and Scott works at the University of New Hampshire where he is also pursuing his master's degree in Marine Biology.

JAIME JOHNSON, '04, married Thomas Blood on June 25, 2005 at Websterville Baptist Church in Websterville, Vermont. A reception was held at Barre Evangelical Free Church. Jaime and Thomas took a honeymoon trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. They both teach at International Christian School in Seoul, South Korea, and live in Seoul.  

JESSICA LONGWAY '04 is engaged to David Wilson and they plan on purchasing a house soon. Jessica is employed in rehab services at Northwestern Medical Center.

SCOTT MONROE, '04, and CHRISTINA MORDASKY, '04, got engaged to be married after Scott proposed on stage at graduation. The couple married on September 10, 2005. The ceremony took place in Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Orwell, Vermont, and a reception was held at Brandon Inn. Scott and Christina took a wedding trip to Prince Edward Island, Canada. Christina works part time as a framer for Liza Myers Gallery and James Frames in Brandon, and part time at the Camera Store in Stowe. Scott works as a reporter for The Stowe Reporter.

REBECCA (SMITH) MCGREGOR '04 , was married to Andrew McGregor on July 22, 2006 at the St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury.  Rebecca works for the Lyndon Institute.  Andrew is employed by the Caledonian-Record.  The Couple resides in St. Johnsbury. 

DEREK SULLIVAN, '04, is working in the financial district in Boston, and intends to go to law school in the next few years. He attended the Boston Alumni Reception in May 2006.

Class of 2005

DANIEL BLANKENSHIP, '05, and David Viau were united in a civil union on September 3, 2005. The ceremony took place at Old Brick Church in Williston. The reception was held in Burlington, after which they left for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Daniel works for the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging and David is employed by the New England Culinary Institute.

CHARLENE CHRISTIAN, '05, is working as a para-educator and teacher's aide at Crossett Brook. 

DAN HOGAN, '05, is the Director of the Wildcat Kids Ski School in New Hampshire. The school teaches children ages 3-12 and the program is expanding repidly.

PATRICK ROGERS, '05, has taken a position as admissions counselor at JSC. He left the Conference and Events Department and moved on to admissions at the end of August 2005.

MEGHAN NYE '03 and SEAN SWEENEY '05 married on August 13, 2005. The ceremony was performed in Meghan's parents garden. A reception was held at the Burlington Elks club. Class of 2006

JENNIFER BEAUDIN, '06, is engaged to Ryan Aines.  The wedding is planned for June 10, 2007.  Jennifer works for the Vermont Department for Children and Families.

MICHELE DAVIS, '06, is currently working with her husband JIM DAVIS '98.  Together they own and operate Green Mountain Prosthetics and Orthotics, Inc., which they started in 2003.

Passings

TYLER BLAIN, '01, died tragically from drowning in late May of 2006.  After graduating from Johnson, he held numerous positions including his own coffee stand.  In time, Tyler found his true calling, working to serve his local community.  First, he worked for Tri-County Community Action Program, helping local residents apply for fuel aid.  He was also their homeless outreach worker, helping Upper Valley homeless connect with shelters and services. Through that job, Blain became involved with 10 Bricks Advisory Council, a group working to construct a homeless shelter for singles or couples without children.  The day following the drowning, Tyler was to receive a community service award for his work with 10 Bricks, along with his work for Headrest, an addiction treatment center, and other homeless outreach work. He spent three weeks in Louisiana last year helping with relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina and recently returned from a trip to an orphanage in Kenya, his father said.  He found his happiness in trying to help others his father added.
