2007 Recipients

Susan M. Hill, Class of 1984

Susan Hill received her B.S. degree in Business Management.  Susan is a certified public accountant and the founder and president of Hill & Thompson, P.C., a Certified Public Accounting firm located in Manchester Center, Vermont.  Susan has received numerous honors and awards.  In 2000 she was named Vermont's 2000 Accountant Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.  She is a director of Factory Point National Bank, as well as Berkshire Hills Bancorp.  She is a past Director of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Founding Board of Friends of Hildene, a past trustee of Burr & Burton Academy, and former member of Manchester Business and Professional Women, among others. 

Professionally, Susan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants.  She is an instructor for the American Institute on Banking and also for the Small Business Development Center.  Susan lives in Manchester with her husband and son.

 

Trevor S. Whipple, Class of 1994

Trevor WhippleTrevor Whipple graduated with a B.S. degree with an emphasis on Criminal Justice.  He earned his A.S. degree from Castleton State College and, after JSC, earned a M.P.A. from the University of Vermont in 2003, following which he also attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.  Trevor currently serves as Police Chief in South Burlington, Vermont, the third largest municipal police department in the state with 39 sworn officers and seven full-time civilian employees.  Before coming to South Burlington in 2006, he was Police Chief in Barre, Vermont, for more than seven years. 

Trevor felt a calling to share his experience with others, so in 1984 he began as a juvenile law instructor at the Vermont Police Academy.  He has continued since that time and now serves as a senior juvenile law instructor.  He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Woodbury College and the Community College of Vermont.  Trevor has developed and currently instructs these courses: Juvenile Law, Criminal Investigation, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Interview and Investigation, and Law Enforcement in America.
