EDP Outstanding Alumni Awards

These awards are presented to EDP alumni from JSC's Community-Based Bachelors Degree Program, who have made outstanding accomplishments in their careers and lives whether in social service, business, or community service. Nominations come from faculty, staff, and alumni. Selection is made by President Murphy.

2008 Recipients

Owen Bradley, Class of 1998
Owen BradleyOwen received his B.A., Cum Laude in 1998 and his M.Ed. from the University of Vermont in 1999. He has been on staff at Twinfield Union School in Plainfield since 1999, and has served as principal since 2004. Prior to that he was drop-out prevention counselor, personal learning plan director and director of special programs at Montpelier High School and Montpelier Public School since 1991.

In May 1998, Owen received the Vermont Chamber of Commerce Business Education Partnership "Mentors Make a Difference Award." In 2000, he was recognized for the development of the Personal Learning Plans Program at Montpelier High School and in October 2004 he received the Vermont Children's Forum "Kids Count" award. Owen is affiliated with a number of professional organizations including: the Vermont Principals Association, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, Phi Delta Kappa International, and High Schools on the Move Study Group.

Jeanne B. Kennedy, Class of 1984
Jeanne KennedyJeanne Kennedy received her B.A. from Johnson in 1984. Since 1991, Jeanne has been the sole proprietor of the lobbying and government relations firm JB Kennedy Associates, LLC, based in South Burlington. Previously, she was a Vermont State House lobbyist and government relations representative.

Jeanne has served in the Vermont House of Representatives; was a participant in the Forum for Women in Legislative Leadership at Rutgers Center for American Women and Politics; a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures, Federal Taxation, Trade and Economic Development Committee and the Eastern Regional Director for the NCSL Women's Network.

Jeanne has also served as the coordinator for the Vermont Women & Money Conference and she is currently the coordinator for the CSG ERC Annual Meeting Vermont 2009. In addition to her professional responsibilities Jeanne currently holds memberships with the Lund Family Center Board of Trustees, Leadership Champlain Board of Directors, and the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce.
