John King, Class of 1983

Since 1998, John King has been the president and CEP of Vermont Public Television, Vermont's statewide public broadcasting network and PBS member station. He holds the same position for the Public Televsion Association of Quebec, the Canadian affiliate organization for Vermont Public Television, based in Montreal, Canada. He joined Vermont Public Television in 1987 as the Chief Financial Office and was promoted to Vice President — Finance & Administration in 1990 and to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1995. He is a frequent speaker and presented at national public broadcasting meetings and conferences.

He holds a master's degree in Public Administration from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts; a bachelor's degree from Johnson State College; and an associate's degree from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.

He is active in civic activities and youth sports. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Selectmen in Milton, as Presidentof the Essex Youth Hockey Association, and as President of the Colchester High School Hockey Boosters. He and his wife and two children live in Colchester, Vermont.
