Undergraduate Admissions

Undergraduate students have many reasons for choosing to attend Johnson State College. Here are a few of the most common.

Close to It All

Our campus lies on a 350-acre hilltop with a spectacular view of the Green Mountains. Some of Vermont's best hiking and skiing is close by, as is the 1,030-acre Babcock Nature Preserve (owned and maintained by JSC). And if you like cities, Montreal and Burlington are just a short car ride away.

An Intimate Learning Environment

The average class size at JSC is just 17 students. Want to get to know your professors on a first-name basis — and even work with them on projects? Would you prefer classes where actual discussions take place to a lecture hall filled with 200 students? Then you will appreciate our learning environment.

Academic Excellence

You will be challenged if you come to JSC. Our students must meet high standards, such as taking three writing courses, passing a writing proficiency exam and completing a demanding core curriculum. Along the way, you will develop critical skills that will enhance your career prospects and make you a truly well-rounded individual.

Something for Everyone

JSC's largest academic programs are elementary education and business management. But our 25 liberal arts offerings also include such distinctive programs as outdoor education, wellness & alternative medicine, hospitality & tourism management, fine and performing arts, creative writing, journalism and 11 teacher licensure programs.

Playing Your Part

JSC seems to naturally attract students who like getting involved. Political, social or environmental causes, the arts, athletics, pre-professional organizations: Whatever your interest, we give you the opportunity to explore it through our clubs, organizations, community service programs and extended classroom experiences.
