Transfer Students
Johnson State College welcomes applications from transfer students for fall or spring semester admission. We accept and review applications throughout the year, but we recommend that you apply by the priority deadlines indicated below.
Priority Deadlines
For the fall semester (August — December): March 1
For the spring semester (January— May): December 1
Applying
Transfer students should have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.0. We accept credits from courses taken at accredited institutions with a grade of C or better.
To be considered for admission, transfer students must submit the following:
- JSC application with a $38 application fee*
- Official transcript(s) from all colleges previously attended
- Mid-term Grade Report
- Official high school transcript or GED scores (Waived for students transferring 60 or more credits.)
- One letter of recommendation, preferably from an academic advisor or professor
- Transfer Applicant Evaluation Form
- Essay

* The application fee is waived for students transferring from another Vermont State College (Castleton State College, Community College of Vermont, College, Lyndon State College, Vermont Technical College).
Transfer of Credit Policies
In order to be eligible for the transfer of credits from other institutions, a student must be a matriculated (degree-seeking) student at Johnson State College.
Credit may also be granted for prior learning and for non-course work. Please see the JSC College Catalogue for more on the policies and procedures governing the transfer of credit.
