Housing Contract

Please read the following letter to learn more about campus housing at JSC and how to access your housing contract.

A Letter From the Office of Residence Life

Welcome to Johnson State College! We are very excited to learn you will be joining the residential living community for the upcoming academic year.

Your residential experience is an important part of college. Many of the friends and classmates you will be closest to over the next few years will be those you meet and interact with in the residence halls. Living on your own for the first time also presents a new range of challenges — and privileges — you will need to balance against your academic and personal worlds.

As you go through the process of selecting a room and sharing some rooming information with us, please take the time to look over our online housing brochure and consider what living option appeals to you most: suite-style wellness housing? traditional housing with first-year specific programming? Or a building with a mix of first and second year students?

Also, consider ordering bedding through the linens program described on the Web site; we put our portion of the proceeds back into Residence Life through educational and social programming in the residence halls.

It is important that you, the student, fill out your housing contract — especially the roommate matching information on the lower portion of the contract. This gives us the best chance of matching you with someone who has similar interests and priorities.

We start room and roommate assignments in early July. For this reason, it is difficult to honor roommate requests that are made after July 1st. We assign rooms by first-come, first-serve priority so be sure to submit a housing contract as soon as you are able! Double rooms are assigned first, followed by triple rooms. First-year students may only receive single room assignments if they have a documented need based on medical, psychological or learning disability.

By the end of the day on August 5th, you will receive an e-mail to your JSC account letting you know your housing assignment and your roommate(s) name and contact information. In the meantime, we encourage you to contact us via e-mail or telephone with any questions about living on campus at Johnson State.

Again, welcome to the JSC community. We look forward to meeting you soon!

Sincerely,
Michele Whitmore, Assistant Dean of Students
Jeff Bickford, Coordinator of Residential Living
