Financial Aid Checklist

If you have been awarded financial aid, it's important that you follow these steps:

Accept your financial aid online or by returning your award letter.

If the Financial Aid Office has requested additional information, respond immediately.

Complete Entrance Interview and the Promissory Note for Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans at www.studentloans.gov.

Perkins Loan recipients: Look for instructions to complete paperwork later in the summer.

Work-Study award recipients: Check out information about Work-Study in your Fall Orientation Packet, which you will receive during Fall Orientation (August 20-22, 2010).

Parents borrowing a PLUS Loan: Complete your Promissory Note at www.studentloans.gov and complete and submit the PLUS Loan Pre-Application to the JSC Financial Aid Office. (Questions about completing the Promissory Note? Click here to download instructions.)

If you have not applied for financial aid, you can still do so. Follow these easy steps:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.FAFSA.ed.gov to apply for federal aid, including student loans. When completing the form, you will need JSC's school code: 003688.
  • Vermont residents, apply for state grants at www.vsac.org
  • Out-of-state residents, check with your state agency to see if grants are available.
  • JSC does not require a separate aid application
