Applying for Graduate Studies
Admission to all graduate programs requires the completion of the Application for Graduate Admission form.You can obtain this form by calling 800-635-2356 or 802-635-1219; by e-mailing the Office of Admissions; by downloading a pdf version of the admissions form; or by writing:

International students applying for graduate studies at JSC should use the International Students Graduate Application form.
How to Apply for the Graduate Program in Education
To apply for the Graduate Program in Education, please submit:
- A completed Application for Graduate Admission and a $35 application fee
- An official transcript of an undergraduate degree granted by a regionally or nationally accredited institution
- Three letters of recommendation
- A two-page essay stating why you are interested in graduate study
Applicants must also complete an interview with the graduate faculty. Once the above information is received, you will be contacted about an interview.
Priority Application Deadlines for Graduate Studies in Education
Fall semester admission (August-December): April 1
Spring semester admission (January-May): July 1
Summer semester admission (May-August):November 1
How to Apply for the Graduate Program in Counseling
To apply for the Graduate Program in Counseling, please submit:
- A completed Application for Graduate Admission and a $35 application fee
- An official transcript of an undergraduate degree granted by a regionally or nationally accredited institution
- Three letters of recommendation
- A two-page essay addressing one of the questions indicated on the application form
Applicants must also complete an interview with the graduate faculty. Once the above information is received, you will be contacted about an interview.

How to Apply for Graduate Studies in Fine Arts
To apply for the M.F.A. in Fine Arts program, please submit:
- The JSC Application for Graduate Admission for the MFA Program, including a $35 application fee
- An official transcript of an undergraduate degree granted by a regionally or nationally accredited institution
- An artist’s statement discussing the technical development of your work and your conceptual considerations
- A slide portfolio of recent work to include 20 slides
- A current resume
Applicants must also complete an interview with the graduate faculty. Once the above information is received, you will be contacted about an interview.
Application Deadline for the Graduate Program in Fine Arts
Summer semester admission (May-August): February 15
Applications for the the Graduate Program in Fine Arts may also be obtained by calling the Vermont Studio Center at 802-635-2727.
