Financial Aid Important Dates

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR 2008-2009 APPLICATIONS

The Department of Education has announced an important update for applying for Financial Aid for the 2008-2009 academic year.

The Federal Government will not be providing paper FAFSAs to schools this year to encourage filing for aid online. The following options listed below are available to you.

  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov for the 2008-2009 academic year.
  • The FAFSA on the Web Worksheet will still be available in the Johnson State College financial aid office to facilitate the online method for filing the application.
  • If you do not have access to online filing, you may obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) toll free at 1-800-4FED-AID (1-800-433-3243). Students may request up to three copies of the paper application and should receive them within 3 to 7 business days.
  • New for 2008-2009 is a PDF version of the FAFSA that students can access after January 1st, 2008 at this Web site: www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov.
    • Complete the form on the computer or by hand, and then mail it to the address on the form for processing.

The Johnson State College Financial Aid Office encourages you to complete your FAFSA and State Applications online whenever possible.

Online applications are processed faster and have fewer errors than paper versions. You may use estimated income on your FAFSA if you or your parents have not completed tax returns for 2007 so you do not miss important deadlines.

* Remember, you can not apply until after January 1, 2008 for Financial Aid regardless of the option you choose.
