B.F.A. Degree in Media Arts
Students in the BFA in Media Arts explore the expanding world of media with an emphasis on creative inquiry, artistic collaboration and adaptation to emerging technologies. Courses include image processing, animation and motion graphics, video and new media.
The degree requires 60 credit hours in the visual or performing arts or related interdisciplinary coursework. Students begin the program with introductory course intended to increase their familiarity with worldwide artistic and theoretical concepts associated with media and art.
As students progress through the program, they take more specialized courses such as Animation and Motion Graphics, Video Production and Web Design. Students are immersed in the Media Arts Research Studio (MARS) which houses state-of-the-art digital hardware, software, and printing capacities. Students will be immersed in lectures, demos, labs, critiques and public presentations including the Impractical Practicalities Series. A thesis exhibition and presentation are required in the senior year.
