Faculty Profile: Diane Huling Reed
Diane Huling Reed has taught in a variety of venues, from elementary schools to colleges, but she has found that at Johnson State College, where she's been since 1998, the students are by far the most fun. "They are kind and imaginative," she explains, and she enjoys being in the center of such a creative and energetic community.
An accomplished pianist and composer, Diane has performed all over the world as a soloist and accompanist. Bringing music to her local community is also important to Diane, and among many community projects, she founded and produced a community concert series in Montpelier and founded and conducted a chamber orchestra and community choir.
Diane continues to write music and perform, outside of teaching, but she also works hard to balance her "indoor and outdoor work." To this end, she gardens and keeps goats, geese and chickens as well as cats and dogs at her home in Craftsbury Common. She is a level-two Reiki practitioner and a painter, as well.
