Sandra JC Noyes won the college's highest staff award at Honors Convocation May 1, 2009. Sandy is staff assistant for the departments of Humanities and Writing and Literature and has been at JSC since 1994. She is held in high esteem by her faculty, who say: "She is wonderful, works above and beyond her job description, takes the initiative to figure out ways to make our job easier, gives us materials before we even know we need them, and is a great mentor to her workstudy students. She is always cheerful, and ready to accommodate even the grumpiest characters who may walk into her office. She does her job very well and takes it seriously, but always with healthy humor and candor, managing an amazing range of responsibilities. She treats everyone — whether faculty, adjuncts, or students — in the same forthright and fair manner."
