Freda Hebb Award 2007

Annette Jalbert

Annette Jalbert

Administrative Assistant in Education and Behavioral Sciences
At JSC since 1996

Annette Jalbert retired in the summer of 2007, after having served JSC since 1996. She was nominated by the entire McClelland Hall staff, who said, "We believe Annette provides outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty and truly exemplifies devotion and outstanding service."

(Below are some of the comments made by her colleagues in support of her nomination:)

For nine of the 11 years Annette has worked at JSC, she has been the administrative assistant for the Behavioral Sciences and Education Departments and for the Dance Program.

Annette serves no fewer than three departments, administering six programs. Her work load is Herculean. In addition to keeping it straight, she manages to do everything from remembering birthdays (complete with cards and cakes) to supporting colleagues who are in crisis. Her professionalism and administrative skills are amazingly matched by her interpersonal sensitivity and grace.

She is diplomatic good-natured, generous, selfless, and kind and has set a tone of good will in the halls of McClelland. JSC has many talented, valued, and deserving employees, but Annette is the Gold Standard.

In her role as administrative assistant at McClelland, she provides many services. Her office is usually the first stop for people entering the building (and sometimes the campus). Whether they are looking for a class, a faculty member, or other information, she never fails to provide the needed information or make the necessary calls, always with a smile.

She works tirelessly on behalf of McClelland faculty and students in a manner that is always friendly, caring, and kind.

She has been the heart of the McClelland building, remembering our birthdays, checking in with us on how we are doing, finding a band-aid, opening a stuck door lock.

Annette is very dedicated to her faculty and to her departments; regularly going above and beyond to get her work done.  It is common for Annette to come in early, stay late, or take work home so that she doesn't get behind (or even just to keep her head above water at times).

In addition, Annette is just a very nice person.  She treats everyone with respect, is extremely helpful and understanding, and does everything with such good grace.
