Michele Whitmore

Assistant Dean of Students Michele Whitmore is the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Staff Award. Michele began her career at Johnson State College 15 years ago, starting out as a temporary employee dividing her part-time hours between SERVE and Residence Life. Michele says, “I fell in love with this place from the moment I stepped onto campus.” Students were the driving force for getting her more involved with the division of student life. Her career has been on an upward trend ever since. In addition to her primary responsibilities, Michele is approaching her second year as women’s tennis coach. In her spare time she is working to complete a master’s degree in counseling.
Michele is married with two children, Kayla and Dylan, and she credits the support and encouragement of her family as a big part of her success. Michele writes, “I have learned so much from our students and feel quite fortunate to have the pleasure of working at a place that is so rewarding.”
