About the External Degree Program
Johnson State College's External Degree Program (EDP) helps adult learners with at least 60 college-level credits to complete their bachelor’s degree largely in their own community through a flexible combination of courses offered on weekends, online and in the evenings.
Flexible Scheduling
Johnson State’s EDP courses take place one Saturday or Sunday every three to four weeks at Community College of Vermont (CCV) locations throughout Vermont, including Burlington, Montpelier, St. Albans, Rutland, White River Junction and others. Many other courses are offered online. You can also take courses on campus at Johnson State or at other institutions.
Students work closely with local EDP advisors available at all 12 CCV sites in Vermont. No residency at Johnson State is required, but you must live in or near Vermont.
About EDP
The External Degree Program is designed for adult learners, many of whom are juggling jobs and/or family responsibilities along with their studies. Courses and degree options offer maximum flexibility as well as the challenge and excitement of learning that leads to a bachelor’s degree. Since its inception in 1977, more than 2,500 students from ages 22 to 79 have earned a bachelor's degree through the External Degree Program.
