Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences
The health sciences major is designed for students wishing to pursue careers in health and physical education, adult and corporate fitness, or the allied medical professions including athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, physician's assistant and nursing.
The health sciences are one of the fastest growing fields in the United States, and JSC is well-equipped to serve students with interests in these disciplines. For example, our Human Performance Laboratory is made up of contemporary exercise and health monitoring technology: biofeedback equipment, metabolic and heart/lung monitoring devices, exercise bicycles, treadmills and rowing machines.
Because of the wide variety of career options available in this major, entering students are encouraged to obtain a faculty advisor as soon as possible so that an appropriate plan of study can be developed according to your career aspirations.
Additionally, students who graduate from Johnson State College may obtain athletic training certification (NATA) through a reciprocal agreement with Plymouth State University of New Hampshire.
