Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.

This course addresses language in the context of the family, community, and schools. How does language affect who we are, how we see ourselves, and who we become? What is the relation between language, culture, literature and human development? Information is integrated in the context of teacher awareness and the mandate of public education to provide culturally sensitive instructional choices for all learners. Providing for the needs of English Language Learners (ELL) birth through 6th grade is emphasized. (Fall Semesters)
