Beyond the Classroom

HikingThe classrooms and studios at Johnson State College are the site of some our most exciting moments: ideas are elaborated and debated, questions are answered and explored, and minds are changed. But at JSC, we believe that experience is also an important and effective teacher.

We include experiential learning across the curriculum, and we encourage all of our students to participate in learning through internships, fieldwork, student teaching, work-study, summer employment, or to work with our nationally recognized SERVE service learning office. Interns and volunteers learn valuable new skills in challenging work settings and make important contributions to schools, organizations, businesses, and communities.

The skills, insight, and experience gained through these opportunities help make JSC students better prepared for the world beyond campus.
