Wellness and Alternative Medicine: Program Details
The wellness and alternative medicine (WAM) program explores the principles, theories and concepts of naturopathy, massage, chiropractic medicine, Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, Native American medicine and energy healing.
Studying WAM exposes you to the fundamentals of conventional Western (i.e., allopathic) medicine and the sciences that support all health care systems, including human anatomy, physiology, chemistry and biology. You also learn how to critically evaluate evidence from a broad range of healing and wellness systems and modalities, and study the factors involved in addressing global/environmental health issues.
The WAM major is interdisciplinary.

Explore current health issues and crises, and examine the powerful role of culture and social structure in health and health care. Investigate holistic models and theories for social change to improve environmental and global human health.
