Accompanied by Prof. Gina Mireault (right), JSC students met Sen. Patrick Leahy during a recent trip to Washington to present their award-winning research on the development of humor in infants.
Students working toward their Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology explore a wide range of theories concerning human behavior, development, thought, emotion, learning, intelligence, personality and group dynamics.
Through coursework and numerous field and research opportunities, students gain valuable experience and practical knowledge that can serve as a basis for any career as well as for graduate study. Research opportunities include assisting Professor Gina Mireault with her long-running study into how infants develop a sense of humor, which has gained extensive publicity over the years and was included in an October 2012 episode of "NOVA Science Now" on PBS.
Psychology majors at JSC also have numerous internship opportunities. Click here for a summary of some of these recent experiences.
